Application name
Kidslox
Parental control app for iPhone, iPad and Android, made by Kidslox, Inc.
Kidslox helps parents and guardians manage how their children use phones and tablets. Parents install Kidslox on their own device, create a Kidslox account, and pair it with their child's device. From then on, the parent can set screen time limits, block distracting apps, filter inappropriate web content, schedule device-free periods and see how much time the child actually spends on each app.
What Kidslox does
Kidslox is a single-purpose parental control tool. Everything in the app exists to give a parent control over their own child's device use:
- Screen time limits — set a daily allowance for the child's device and for individual apps.
- App blocking — choose which apps and games are available and which are blocked.
- Web content filter — block adult and other inappropriate websites in the child's browser.
- Schedules — automatically lock the device during school hours, homework time or at night.
- Instant lock — lock the child's device immediately from the parent's phone.
- Location — see where the child's device is, so a parent knows they arrived safely.
- Activity reports — a daily and weekly breakdown of the apps and websites the child used.
Who Kidslox is for
Kidslox is for parents and legal guardians who want to manage the devices of children in their own household. The account is always created and controlled by an adult. Kidslox is not a tool for monitoring other adults, employees or anyone whose devices the account holder is not legally responsible for.
How Kidslox works
- Create a Kidslox account. The parent downloads Kidslox on their own phone and signs up with an email address, or with Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple.
- Install Kidslox on the child's device. The same app is installed on the child's iPhone, iPad or Android device and switched into child mode.
- Pair the two devices. The child's device is linked to the parent's account with a pairing code. From that moment the parent manages limits, schedules and blocked apps remotely from their own phone.
Signing in with Google
Kidslox offers “Sign in with Google” as one way for a parent to create and access their Kidslox account, alongside email and Sign in with Apple. When a parent chooses it, Kidslox requests only these two scopes:
- profile — the parent's basic Google profile: name and profile picture.
- email — the email address of the parent's Google Account.
These are used for one purpose only: to create the parent's Kidslox account and to sign them back in on their next visit. The email address identifies the account and is used for service messages such as password resets and subscription receipts; the name and picture are shown in the parent's own Kidslox profile.
Kidslox does not request any other Google scope. It does not read Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, YouTube data or any other Google service, and it never connects a child's device to a Google Account through this sign-in. Kidslox does not sell this data and does not share it with third parties for advertising. A parent can delete their Kidslox account and the data associated with it at any time from the app or by writing to support@kidslox.com.
